ive done the long haul last year. from chicago across illinois iowa nebraska colorado utah to vegas and then coming back went across arizona new mexico texas panhandle up and across oklahoma and missouri and back up thru illinois, not that much to look at either way, but it is fun to drive cross country, planning on doing it again next summer
Iowa isn't as bad as you think and we don't only have country music stations. If I have to drive through Nebraska I like going at night for some reason. That storm was nothing! How the heck did you get on I35 from I80?!? LOL!
Hey one thing I would recommend for any future trips that you might drive out west is the XM Radio. I got it for my car and it is the best product I ever got for my car.
I feel your pain, Brother. For me, the worst part was the sick feeling I got coming across the river into Omaha, seeing mile marker 454, and knowing there are 454 miles of almost nothing to see ahead. The upside is that, on the way back, Iowa would seem like Disneyland, compared to Nebraska.
I´m Edward from Brazil. It´s a nice drive.....
I´ve driven on the I-80 in the midwest in 2001, and
I´m excited to do it again.
I´m planning a long road trip from Curitiba-Brazil to Salt Lake City-USA.
It will be a nice drive.....

If you think Nebraska is bad, drive on i94 in North Dakota between Fargo and Bismarck, that was the flattest place I ever saw.
