  • Mr. mattOtto, how are you playing the executions at 3:48 to 3:51, Is it legato or other articulate? Do you have instruction DVD or cd available? Look to hear from you soon.

  • @happyyoung2 I think I'm pretty much playing legato at that point, slurred, maybe a subtle uptounge - tounging on the 'and' of the eight notes... listening back, I wish I had just slurred all of it... :)

  • matt what is that lick you do at 2:42?

  • @ToliKwoli - those are augmented triads ascending by whole steps (from whole tone). Over concert G7#5...

  • I know I'm commenting like crazy lol you got me hooked to your sound and methods..... Are you familiar with Kenny Werner?? If not he's an accomplished piano player and has written a book called Effortless Mastery it's a book that in a nutshell emphasizes that the musician should perform from his "inner space" or thru the "Master Musician" I feel that your methods are along those lines.... I feel you instruct us to play from our inner core..... You know what I mean?

  • @ToliKwoli Thanks, I'm glad you like the blog and lessons. It's nice some people are getting something positive from them. Yes I know Kenny W... I took a lesson with him and read his book. I agree with his methodology to a large extent. Thanks again.

  • Thanks alot man i really appreciate your help!

  • @AnimaInPlexiglasss I'm not sure what model it is.. it's a Selmer H which I got from Emilio Lyons in the 80's.

  • This sound is very beautiful! It's similar to the Coltrane sound.

The mouthpiece is a Selmer Soloist?

  • ~Sold~

  • @MattOttoJazz Thanks for your reply! I've never tried vandoren bluebox, and will try that.

  • @ucOAK Thanks!.. It's a selmer hard-rubber 'H' with a vandoren 4 blue box... regular selmer lig.

  • Hi,

This is the best sound of soprano I've ever heard.

What equipments did you use in this video? (mouthpiece, reed & lig)
