Had a couple of these back in the mid 1980's. One was S&W, the other SVP. The first SVP burned up after about 15 minuted of continuous use. never had any trouble with the S&W.
Like the S&W, the SVP design had the motor attached to the back of the reflector and both rotated. The later SVP design used a stationary motor with only the reflector rotating. Both models were very bright with a good flash.

@jetsonicman i know , also got 2 federal signal models of it too, ironically SVP now only make their new current lights in the USA after moving to NY from FLA and changing the name to "siginal vehicle products" ,they make nice LED and sirens now,they hooked me up with some nice lights and siren packages.i still perfer the old school FS and S&W stuff though
i got the same S&W pancake light as well as 2 blue SVP models of it

The S & W are older and rare, the SVP models
are made of plastic and the reflector.
The SVP are Made in Hong Kong
So not Made U. S.
