Wild Bill Mehlhorn - one of very few Ben Hogan admired and learned from in his early days. From this short material presented above, we can easily see that such things as the trigger compression, sequential swinging from the ground up or the diagonal stance was being present in Mehlhorn's motion.

From Wikipedia:
William Earl Mehlhorn (December 2, 1898 -- April 5, 1989) was an American golfer who played on the PGA Tour in its early days, and was at his best in the 1920s.
He was from Texas. He often wore cowboy hats on the course and was nicknamed "Wild Bill". He won 20 times on the PGA Tour, but did not win a major championship. Only a handful of golfers have won more often on the PGA Tour without claiming a major. He finished 14 times in the top-10 at majors. His best finish was runner-up to Walter Hagen at the 1925 PGA Championship. He played on the 1927 Ryder Cup team. His game was undermined by problems with putting: the yips.

  • @h1e2x3 You cannot mentally direct an action and be fluid at he same time. Keep all your high tech cameras and words. None compare to my dad and Mehlhorn for getting someone to swing the clup beautifully without thinking.

  • @aardvaark069 It's one of the three release types differentiated by Sir Henry Cotton. Cotton wanted to depict the three possible scenarios of how the clubface changes its orientation in relation to the ball in the strict impact zone and, therefore, he distinguished three possibilities:

    a. slap-hinge release (vertical change of orientation);

    b. crossover release (horizontal change of orientation);

    c. push release (no change of orientation).

  • @h1e2x3 what is slap-hinge release?

  • @mrbill33000 Forgive me the previous question then. It is a pleasure to meet the grandson of the great Wild Bill. The swing sequences that I used in my vid were taken from efootagedotcom and la84foundationdotorg

  • @h1e2x3 no joke?? its a long story but he really was my granfather. last time i saw him i was 6 or 7 years old parents split i never saw him again. after he passed in 89 i got a few things from him. my mother just passed away she had had a lot of stuff on him. i always knew he was a prof golfer but wasnt aware of all his following or his accompliments as a pro. he was old when when i was a kid took me for some lessons back when i small but thats all i remember of him. i never picked up golf.

  • @mrbill33000 Mr.Mehlhorn was really your Grandfather ? Or is it a joke ?

  • Thats my grandfather up in those shots. Where did you find them?

  • well i just love it!
