Raw feeding 101
You feed your dog based on their energy requirements. It will differ for how much work your dog does, and what their metabolism is like. There is a formula out there but you really dont use it or need it.
1# raw meaty bones and/or whole carcasses - chicken, lamb, pork, whole raw fish, beef, rabbit (protein)
2# whole raw eggs and shells (dont let the dogs crack the shells, provides good fats)
3# organ meat(high in all vitamins)
4# Raw Dairy(low amounts for the probiotics)
Our dogs will get fish heads, fish parts, lamb, goat, cow and any other RAW meaty carcass we can get. If you are worried about germs we use a spray bottle containing white vinegar which I spray about when I need some disinfecting. Its not a hard thing to get used to, formulas and ratios will leave you with problems. Look at your dogs and cats regularly - if they are looking a bit porky, then remove all carbs in their diet. If they look a bit thin, then, an extra chicken quarter in the diet for a few days may be the solution.
It's not hard to do, and when you get into a routine, it's really easy.
