This film is based on the Master Classes of Peter Elkus and his book "The Telling of Our Truths ~ The Magic in Great Musical Performance."

'... Truths' has been written in response to critics' and professionals' complaint of performers who sing or play well - yet say little with their music.

In the book Peter Elkus both dissects and formulates the elements of Great Musical Performance. With a passion for artistic expression (in parallel theme to the film "The King's Speech") he psychologically and practically demonstrates how education which starts in the home can support or impede freedom in expression. He spells out the 'how's and 'why's' of a positive educational development that places the performer at the source of his artistry... 'the telling of his truths'

Comments on "The Telling of Our Truths...":

"... this masterpiece"... "Overwhelming in its impact"... "This book is unique!"
(Gerald Ginsburg - American composer and poet)

"...For once a book on singing that goes right to the heart of the matter - genuine self expression - how to set it free."
(Dalton Baldwin - world renowned pianist, accompanist, coach, educator, recording artist)

"I find myself having to re-read things several times because it hits the gut so hard. It's all so simple, it's hard to believe." (Mut Asheru - Editor in Chief; Unsigned, The Magazine)

Elkus' master classes have been presented in 10 countries including the Munich State Opera, the Hochschule for Music in Vienna, Teatro Colon, Buenos Aires, the Theatre Champs Elysee in Paris and the festival of The Accademia Musicale Ottorino Respighi in Assisi and Rome. He has been judge of the Metropolitan Opera Regional Auditions and president (following Birgit Nilsson and Placido Domingo) of the judging panel of the International Vocal Competition of the Richard Wagner Foundation at the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires.
Elkus taught his former wife, Frederica von Stade, from 1975 to 1985 during which time she received a Grammy and eleven Grammy Nominations - 8 in the category of Best Classical Vocalist.
