A short documentary produced by 3 students at Kent State University in 2006. It focuses on the All-American Bridge (otherwise known as the Y-Bridge), in Akron, OH and the debate over whether or not to build a fence along the bridge to prevent people from committing suicide by jumping off of it and landing in a community below. Produced, written, and directed by Tim Logan, Keith Potoczak, and Jaclyn Latessa. Copyright 2006 All rights reserved.
"Would this have prevented this? Probably not. It would have prevented it maybe on that bridge." Counsel man 7:00 Isn't that point? The individuals in this film seem as though their attitude is "if you can't win, why try?" My point of view is if you don't try then you have accepted a loss.

Actually studies show if you prevent suicide at first thought, people will rethink it and be less likely to follow through. Furthermore, it allows more time for emergency counseling.

I don't understand her logic in saying that the suicides lead to increased crime. How? Why would criminals be more likely to frequent a neighborhood where people are jumping off a bridge? Is there greater opportunity for crime profits when people are killing themselves?

I hate cops. I hate cops. I hate cops. I hate cops. I hate cops. I hate cops. I hate cops. I hate cops. "Welll, that's a thing for the city administration to decide." They just give you the run around unless you're doing something minorly wrong, then they bring the full weight of the municipality down upon your ass... I fucking hate cops.

Waste of taxpayer dollars. Unless the lack of barriers create a real hazard of accidental deaths or vehicular falloffs, it would be stupid for folks to think this is preventing suicide if they want to put the barrier up, Id just go find some other high place i mean thats not even that high off the ground.
