@TheCasualGardener ...so encourage people to xeroscape and/or plant indigenously. Imagine how they will feel when they discover a real nest in their garden. Another way to encourage people to "LEARN about native wildlife and plantings" is to invite them to really look at what is already in their yard/garden. A first step is to see that which the earth has already attracted. Plants Volunteer in amazing places and the fauna comes naturally. Discovery is the simplest first step to learning : )

I love watching birds. I have a bird bath by my front porch. I put bird seed in there. It is amazing to watch the different types of birds and with different colors. Of course the squirrels like to perch on there and eat the sunflower seeds. lol. I will have to check some bird houses out. Thanks for another great video.

Come on ...bird houses are an articial addition to a garden. Birdhouses are for us as opposed to 'for the birds' so to speak.
Every species of bird has an instictive knowledge of how to build a perfect nest for its young.
Please reconsider your statements in this ...just a thought : )

@gaiagale You are correct. Bird houses are an artificial addition to gardens. However, in the United States, very few people have native plants in their garden. I do not have all native plants in my garden. Therefore, encouraging people to LEARN about native wildlife and plantings begins with a first step. Many people who have attracted birds with bird feeders and bird houses then take the next steps to learn about planting native plants in their lawns which attract birds. It's a first step.
