Theodore Ziras-Lick of the Week 90: Learn the Whole Tone Scale Part1

Lesson Description:
The whole tone scale, as its name suggests, is constructed entirely of whole steps.
It contains only six distinct pitches. The seventh degree is enharmonicwith the root of the scale.
Since the pattern of whole steps repeats at each of the degrees of the scale,
a whole tone scale built on any degree of a given whole scale will be identical to the original.
Learn the Whole Tone Scale patterns (see the tab below) and practice them
over the metronome or over a Dominant Seven (1, 3 ,5 ,b7) or a Augmented Chord (1, 3, #5).
Guitarists that are using Whole Tone scale are Jason Backer, Jeff Loomis, Michael Romeo etc
Follow the tab below. Don't forget, always practice with a metronome.
There is no point to play fast and sloppy.

  • @tziras Hello Mr Ziras !! I don´t want to sound like a troll ´cause 100% of my knowledge and playing are coming from your lessons but the whole tone scale and the augmented scale are completely differents .

    The whole tone scale is : 1-2-3-#4-#5-#6-b7 and the augmented scale is T 2# 3 5 5# 7 .

Thanks again for the lesson and sorry for anything ...
