  • Why do you always see worms climbing the bin and they always get out Is there a way to prevent this?

  • I am not sure why they did this. I think the bottom does not let in enough air or there is to much water at the bottom.

She pulled the red top off of the littler box and put in a black round planter that is about 4" from the bottom of the litter container. The planter has huge holes in it and I just water it like I would any other plant.

  • I have bought some wormicopost. How can that be used for the plants. Should it be converted into vermtea or could it be applied in solid form (worm castings)for the plants. If so, what quantity of wormcastings should be applied for each plant?

  • I am not a very good Gardner, but I try most of the time unsuccessfully. Some people prefer the liquid (tea). I think this is because it goes a further and can affect the plants quicker than if you just put the soil on top.

If you are willing to make the tea, I would do that first and then use the left over (in the bag) for top soil on top of the dirt that is already there. I have no idea about the quality of worm castings for each plant. I thought there was only one kind.

  • I have put worms in a plastic box and made holes at sides for ventilation. Is it necessary to make holes at the bottom too?

  • I put the holes on the bottom to allow for the liquid to drain out. I think it was crucial so the worms would not drown.

  • Find somebody who has them and ask! They multiply quickly. I split the cost (and the worms) with a friend.

  • The worms will go to the top whenever they dont like the conditions, not enough air, or food etc.

  • Well, we're off to a rousing start!

  • I have not found a way yet. There are websites for $25 for a lot. If you take care of them, you never have to buy them again, so it is a good investment. Just remember to change the bedding. I forgot and they died.
