Goats can be wonderful companions for a horse, but the much better idea is to have at least 2 horses. Einstein was so small we could not find another horse that would be safe for him and he is a stallion so can not have a female horse companion unless we want to breed him, which we do not. Goats are actually a lot of work if you are not ready for them as they are much harder on fences. Horses should be kept with horses if at all possible.

After he was weaned, Einy was no longer kept with his mom. He has not seen her for a couple of years now- I don't know if they would still have any sort of bond at this point.

Yes but it depends on the personality of both. You always have to be careful putting any two equids together whether they are horses or donkeys. Our experience was that we tried to have a companion donkey for Einy but the donkey was too aggressive so we couldn't keep them together. Never put a stallion with a female donkey or horse unless you want babies.

I swear, I have been watching all horse and soccer balls videos and they all have an instinct to just mount them and try and get on top of them lol

Is a donkey a suitable companion for a horse?

Can Einstein still hang out with his mum? Do they separate and not see each other? Does a bond still remain between the two? Thanks if you reply. :)
