www.tstc.edu The Digital Media Design (DMD) program at Texas State Technical College offers you the resources to learn how to design your own multimedia products—with elements like 2D and 3D animations.

Professionals in fields like science, medicine, law, business and architecture are now using digital products, long popular in newscasts, movies, and advertising, to enhance their organizations. Through multimedia, student pilots run flight simulations, professional trainers create interactive instructional programs architects and engineers create 3-D walk-through designs, law enforcement officials recreate crime scenes to solve cases, and doctors diagnose diseases and develop scenarios to prepare for surgery.

In the laboratories and classrooms at Texas State Technical College you can gain hands-on experience in the world of graphics, storyboard and script design, image production, computer animation, advertising design, pre-production planning and postproduction for multimedia. The practical learning experience includes projects and assignments you can record to your CD_ROM (Compact Disk Read-Only-Memory) portfolio for use after graduation.

DMD's training ranges from 2D vector and raster graphics, video editing and compositing, CD and web authoring, to 3D modeling and rendering.

As a graduate of the DMD program, you may hold positions with titles such as production assistant, computer graphics designer, 2-D or 3-D animator, Web page Developer and interactive software developer.

Graduates may find entry-level work assisting artists or programmers, scripting for multimedia applications, creating 3-D assets for broadcasts, editing video for production, designing and maintaining Web pages, creating graphic designs for print and multimedia, and photo-retouching of photographs.

  • I would like to note that many students when they get into this degree find that this isn't what they want to do. However many people want to do the degrees that branch off of this degree. Such as Media Communication and information, or Advertising Design and Print.

If you are not looking to be an animator this degree is not for you. You will learn to draw if you don't know.
