I agree--the album version is great, but I like this version even more. Feels more free and improvised and just emotionally charged. In any case, this is one of my favorite Pavement songs.

CLASsick...was@the show in Vancouver the night before Seattle or after WTFknows..in '99. SM rocked, Pavement rocked...let's all raise a glass and spark a fattie to Pavement. I still have this song on tape with awesome audio (tape!!), taken from the Van show...and SM just wailed on this solo..and he sang the lead-in chorus an octave higher which really gave the entry to his solo an edge...fuckin' love Pavement. AAAAAAAuuuuuuuuuooooooo!!!
