This is an osteotomy of the calcaneus for a flatfoot deformity to correct the hindfoot. This cutting of the heel bone allows the back half to be shifted back under the leg instead of being turned out. This is part one of two parts.

  • I had this surgery done in November. How long before you expect your patients to get back to running? How long before they have no pain/inflammation in the tendon? I had stage I TPD.

  • @jigga7405 I would suggest waiting for 10-12 weeks before beginning running. I would start out walking then ease back into running. Best wishes.

  • @sandocean17 I would have you wait until complete healing, which is usually 12-16 weeks. Best wishes.

  • @padeheer If lateral column lengthening is done how much does it takes for your patients to get back running again?

  • Yes, for Stage 2 TPD i usually do a Calcaneal osteotomy, FDL to PT transfer, Lapidus and Gastroc Recession. Hope this helps.

  • Was this combined with any medial column procedures?
