DENNIS - A fire damaged a South Dennis antique shop located at the intersection of Searsville Road, Great Western Road, and Upper County Road. Dennis and Harwich firefighters were called to 8 Searsville Road, Oxyoke Antiques, around 7:05 a.m. on Wednesday, February 24, 2010.
Upon arrival, firefighters saw smoke streaming from the eaves and roof of the garage-like structure. As crews entered the building, flames appeared at the rear but were quickly knocked down.
The interior of the structure appeared to be heavily damaged. There were no reported injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
@Skankpronger ummm to ventilate smoke, increase number of exits, and to expose hidden fire. @acobstern14048 Try opening windows from the outside dumbass... Good knockdown

I must agree about the windows. Dennis is actually quite an excellent department on Cape Cod. They face heavy influxes of tourists in the summer with many fire and EMS calls. While many of their fires involve decades old shingled structures, it is pretty baffling why at this particular fire in a small shop, they felt compelled to take the windows with two open doors and a garage type door already opened. You would think entry and knock down would be enhanced with no other vent needed.

this video kinda irritates me a bit and also how they just broke windows for no reason at all. the owner may sue them for damaged property now

@whfd511 "for fun" ....lots of windows can be spared by simply opening them up, especially newer wimdows like pella you can acctually remove the glass so its not damaged

Why was an additional window broken when the fire had already vented itself?

@343NeverForget911 VERY light smoke, no big deal. Are they supposed to put it on across the street?
