I had another service call. This one was for a dirty smoke. I cleaned it up for now. After I was done I asked the night custodian if I could do a bell test and put it on tape. He said sure do what you want I don't care...lol. Its definitely hard to everything with one hand and film with the other. So here ya go....

  • I take it this test was done with the panel plugged in since it said trouble=0 and usually all panels whether simplex or anyone else don't like it when they have to run on the batteries.

  • @Gb755c Ummm yes AC power was on at the time of this test!

  • what's this transparent thing on the pull station ?

  • @paul9511 its called a stopper. Its used to stop kids from pulling the alarm...

  • @twoplyboy that siren in the stopper is it loud

  • sweet spectralerts

  • @Gb755c They wanted to just replace the panel; 4208s are REALLY old

  • @DVaccarelli1988 Oh no those are SpectrAlert classics trust me you will know when you hear an Advance going off the sound is a higher pitched shrill and the horn itself looks different than the classic.

  • @wileyk209zback I wonder how they got away with doing that since light plates are not ADA compliant. unless they were just looking to replace the panel itself and not upgrade the system as a whole.

  • @msj191961 Simplex will buy from other manufacturers. It's more common to see a fire alarm system where the pull stations, the panel and the annunciators are simplex but the notification appliances that is horns, bells speakers, etc are wheelock. In this case, the contractor wanted SpctrAlerts so Simplex bought those horns. It's a way to make a system cheaper when the bids are placed.

  • I heard relays clicking inside the panel to the coding of the Horns. I assume this alarm is panel coded?

  • @paul9511 In a real emergency no one's gonna care that the thing is blaring after they remove it It's easy to pull off it's just a way to discourage pranksters since A it's an extra step they have to do to pull it and B the siren in this case is sure to attract attention and someone is more likely to catch the person in the act of pulling it.
