Risk game strategies. A common strategy in Risk is to try to get a continent early in the game. I therefore explain which continents are best to focus on and why.

First, I cover the most common choice - Australia. It's best strength is that you have a "safe" corner from which to expand later. Funnily enough this is also its weakness, as its hard to expand with such a narrow front.
Secondly, South America is very popular, and this is also my favourite choice.
Thidly, Africa can be a useful continent to start with.

However the others often spell trouble (at least early in the game), the video explains why.

Securing a continent can be thought of as a steady return for no additional work (apart from maintaining the continent), and therefore its a great advantage in the game. However in some high class games, players will now allow each other to take continents, so taking more countries instead becomes the priority.

  • I am very lucky... I held all of Asia in a 6 player game and lost only two territories: Afganistan and Middle East. I won in the end :)

  • @sgtnerf10 niiiiice

  • Thanks for the videos you made really helpful. me and my cousins just started palying Risk recently and sure i want to win haha! , thanks again!

  • @MrAsir666 Glad you liked the series. Remember once you have the technical skills that this series covers - it's all about diplomacy. Keep you ego in check and let others blow hot and cold whilst you stay powerful enough to strike when the time is right. Good luck!

  • My Strategy: Find out what the players are like, develope ways to get at their weak points without others getting involved by attacking and defending certain ways, take North america & South america to get the bonus, the go from there.

  • @676productions ooh! I like that idea. A firm alliance where no one gets the bonus. Yeah that would work and the others wouldnt be too jealous either. I'll add that to my toolbox of strategies. Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the series.

  • @HistoryGamerDotCom True, it is hard to get all of those. I once got it in a three player game where we selected manualy. If you are in a larger game and in an alliance with another player you might be able to share the area. Forfeiting the army bonus each round. Thanks for the great strategies.

  • @676productions Yeah - IF they dont gang up on you which of course they will. However you make your argument well and if it works for you fantastic. It's just in our games if anyone gets even a sniff of North America, Europe or Asia they get pounced upon (until they are too strong, even then alliances can form to stop you). I accept each game with different people is different though.

  • I agree with you for most of the continents. but europe has four borders, with attacks coming from both sides. and you are in the center of the board. everyone will surround you. In asia, you have five borders. but if you capture russia, then that will go down to four. If you also secure Austrailia, you will have three borders, and 9 extra units coming in each turn. that is a game ender if your enemies do not gang up on you

  • @MrWsad Exactly.
