The MLI Mobile Quest Summer Experience gives young people the chance to imagine, develop, and test educational games that can be shared on the latest mobile devices. Developed in partnership with Quest to Learn a new public school in New York City (being created by Parsons The New School for Design and the Institute of Play) that positions game play at the heart of the learning experience this program incorporates game design specifically in service of key 21st century skills.
The MLI Mobile Quest Summer Experience gave fifty New York City area students the opportunity to use the latest Nokia technology, including the Nokoscope software application, to design mobile game experiences. The camp was staffed by a team of experts from the Mobile Learning Institute, Parsons, and the Institute of Play; and it was led by Institute of Play executive director and Parsons associate professor of design and technology Katie Salen. Parsons design and technology assistant professor David Carroll headed a team of developers who designed and implemented custom-built mobile applications for the curriculum.
