  • Those were the true wholesome days, John Wayne, Walt Disney, Ronald Reagan when America was about liberty and justice for all. we didnt have to worry about the westboro baptish church, police chases, aids, companys going bankrupt Circuit City, Blockbuster, no terrorist threats, no reality shows like O.C Housewifes,Jersey shore. kids played outside, now kids stay inside for XBOX, facebook, twitter, Ustream, Myspace, the simpsons.all we have left is our military, Coke Cola and Ron Paul. God help us.

  • I watched reruns of the MMC after school in the very early 70's. Then, on Saturday nights I would watch The Lawrence Welk Show with my dad just to see Bobby. As far as it being a simpler time, more wholesome and more famiy oriented, it was! Doors were rarely locked but crime happened and wars were fought. But the bad things were far and few between. I long for the days when where I live was boring. Now it's filled with illegal aliens whose kids are gang members shooting innocent children.

  • @Dan4USCTroy Hear hear! I think that Mr. Disney would roll over in his grave if he new what has happened with the movies and so forth made under "Disney" name.

  • Back then, they couldn't even show a ladies stomach. Now TV is so filthy and disgusting and companies do it because it makes them money. Plus they want our kids to learn what they want them to learn. Sad to think of it, really.

  • @GLORY5HIM AGREED

  • @Dan4USCTroy Ya did have to worry bout them crazy Soviets & there nukes.

  • @MelissaLovesMakeup89 I was not putting down the show - I was responding to a commenter on this thread doing the "back then was great, today's a disaster" thing that's so tiresome. Sorry to have been a wet blanket for you!

  • @suhwhutdee Some people like to watch things from that time because it was more simply-done. Nothing regarding outside factors. It was live, the costumes were simple and it was simple entertainment for the whole family.

Instead of putting people down who use this as an escape, why dont you just enjoy the show for what it is?

Must we watch a show and know every bit of history behind it? No.

  • Thanks Annette..I ran home from school to see you...

  • people who like to pretend the wholesome face of the mickey mouse club had anything at all to do with reality are the saddest people on the planet. mickey mouse club is nice but the idea that that was an "innocent" time is strictly for stupid people. black dahlia? lindburgh baby? bath school disaster? albert fish? back then was as awful as now you buncha rose-colored-glasses types.

  • Annette's eyebrows are the bomb.
