Two cylinder Yuba Hicks HY produced a stated 16-23 HP. Produced in the 1920's these engines still power craft. The "make and break" ignition system doesn't use sparkplugs to create a spark inside the cylinder, rather it is a system where the igniter is inside the engine and a low-tension coil supplies electricity. When the tappet rod trips the igniter switch, the current is broken and a spark is discharged in the cylinder. And we have ignition...
That was a lot! thanks. my father used to mix old rancid french butter and cooking oil in what we could by for diesel oil and the thing ran and provided us with power to saw. He said it extended the life of the fuel and the engine. sawed a lot of logs with a similar machine.

Talk about a sweet sound! Why do the intake tappets move with an extra movement up and down, is the cam worn? The cam has probably earned the right! If you watch carefully you can see the two intake cams moving twice for each cycle. Is it designed in?

A set of points like what is commonly found in a car is placed in the cylinder and makes a spark igniting the fuel. one point is insualted and does not move while the other point moves. The little arms that flick the ignitor thus moving the point and making the spark.
