Kind of a mood piece with our road trip on a rainy day to an antique hardware store in Aurora, Oregon where we were looking for parts for a Wimshurst influence machine (a classic electric charge generator first developed in Victorian time which uses two inversely rotating discs with patches of metal foail and leyden jars as capaitors to create, store and then discharge static electricity in a giant spark - more on this later).
