  • @saturnday Well in PBC Comcast still gives us WPLG, WPBT, WLRN, WAMI, WSCV, WLTV, and WBEC. U-Verse offers everything essentially. Same in Broward and Dade you can get PBC stations on U-Verse. WSVN was the last Miami station removed, maybe 2 or 3 years ago. Many PBC viewers and WSVN pleaded with Comcast to add it back, but i guess they dont care. I notice in downtown WPB that restaurants and bars with U-Verse do put WSVN on, so its popularity remains.

  • @saturnday Well we still get WPBT, WAMI, WLRN, WBEC, WPLG, WSCV and WLTV on Comcast in PAlm Beach County. They just took WSVN off a few years ago because Raycom had filed a complaint that WSVN was stealing significant #s from them in WPB. Comcast removed WSVN and was flooded with complaints from PBC viewers so they added it back, and then removed it again. ATT offers everything again via U-Verse, but isnt available everywhere yet.

  • (con't)

As far as I remember, they never removed WXEL (PBS) from the cable systems in Broward. And they never offered WPBF or WTVX on cable in Broward and neither station was easy to get via antenna without extra effort.

  • I remember when it was Contenental Cablevision in North Broward County (Comcast today) they were sending us letters in 1992 & 1993 of their pending plans to remove the WPB stations and they were offering us free A&B switches so we could use rabbit ears to pick up the WPB stations. And before I moved away in 1994 WPEC was the first station removed. After I moved away (the same cable company at my mothers home) WPTV was replaced with an NBC shopping channel then MSNBC when that started.

  • @saturnday comcast did that...but AT&T U-Verse has once again made it easily possible to watch both markets again since ATT has included both Miami and West Palm Beach stations on the same systems in both areas. Raycom Media initially put an end to that because WSVN was VERY popular in Palm Beach County and was killing ratings for their own WFLX.

  • God I can't Chandra Bill is still on the air. Time to put her out to pasture...

  • They didn't use that theme very long and this was only the weekend theme. During this time prior to switching to CBS, WPEC used the "Hello News" theme simular to the one used on WSMV in Nashville during the 1980's.

  • 1989 was the first South Florida affiliation shuffle. The second was in 1995 that only affected the Miami market.

Prior to the mid 1990's, both Miami and West Palm Beach stations were easily watchable throughout ALL of South Florida and we had duplcate network affiliates on our cable systems. Then the separate markets began removing the other markets stations from cable lineups and stations were more focused on their own areas.

  • omg It is Hunter!

  • Chandra was also 21yrs younger then she is now. She is still a beautiful woman and an excellent news anchor.
