Thanks for posting this! I just LOVE this stuff!!! No sponsors on the cars... no advertising anywhere other than a few auto related ones here and there. Just... men... machines... and awesome, simple, bucolic course... and other people who didn't have to pay a days wages to come and enjoy the action! I SO long for the simpler time so beautifully evoked by this event you have been kind enough to share with us!!!

As a young lad of 14 my parents took me to the ADAC 1000 km at the Nurburgring, bought a pit pass, and I met the greatest drivers in the world,Fangio ,Moss, all the rest, a guy named Colin Chapman who had brought his first race car to the Nurburgring, a little aircraft rivetted type aluminum body beauty. I asked him what it was and he said "this is the Lotus Climax". Another thrill for me , the Scottish flagged Ecurie Ecosse Jaguars ,on their way to sweeping the Le Mans race a short while later
