Skating around GreenLake in Seattle, Washington

Greenlake is a great place to both skate and socialize. It has a paved trail just short of 3 miles going around the lake. There is both skate and bike rental at Greg's Cycle across the street from the park. Especially during the summer parking can be especially tricky. There are signs around the lake designating walkers on the inside lane and wheels on the outside, but some people pay no attention to it. I usually do 13-minute laps if I am going 20 or 30 miles. Once you get into the 12 minute or less, you risk meeting a walker, runner, loose kids, hard to see dog leashes stretching across the path, boats or sailboards....(you get the idea). You can catch an awesome sunset after having a workout and a cool down drink.

There are plenty of places to run in Seattle. You will find hundreds of miles of trails including Burke Gilman, Interurban, Centennial, Alki Beach etc. and gravel/dirt trails that go through places like Discovery Park, Woodland Park Zoo and many more. The city is in the process of expanding (connecting) as many of the paved trails as possible.

i loved going to green lake almost everyday during the summer as a kid. it was fun to go skating too ^-^ thanks for posting this. i miss the old times
