  • Chessie was the FIRST railroad to use the K5La,and well Amtrak begged for it.and D7RGW just before they merged with SP,tried them out and liked them. The ONLY difference in the K5La and K5LAR24(besides the way nthey're tuned and made) is the 2nd bell and 4th bell is reversed(hence R24)

  • Thanks for the information, I really appreciate it! I actually can tell a slight difference between CSXT and Amtrak K5LA horns, I don't know how to explain it, but Amtrak's version just sounds a little different. Maybe it's because the Amtrak horns are all-bells-forward as opposed to the "R24" on the freight locomotives. :)

  • dammit another patched rio grande locomotive. it'll be awesome if u caught an unpatched one, but hey its good to see a former railroad in its own original paint

  • In addition, the guy in the background said that whenever other railroads don't want their equipment anymore, they hand it over to the Wheeling & Lake Erie. The W&LE even has an ex-Southern GP35 on its roster! Some of those hoppers were even from Bessemer & Lake Erie! Pretty awesome in my opinion!

  • BTW, thanks for the comment!

  • Where Was this taken at?

  • Fostoria, Ohio

  • BTW, Did anyone notice that the F tower opperator came out to see the train at about 0:51?

  • This was going to the docks down in Toledo OH but they rerouted this on the CSX B&O trackage instead of the typical rout they usually take on NS. It is not very offten that they rout it through Fostoria so you got pretty lucky, Nice catch.

  • It and one other are owned by the WLE. FYI the Rio Grande has been gone since 1989.

  • That Rio Grande engine runs out of the WLE yard in Akron,Ohio. Saw it parked there yesterday and last week saw it in operation in Akron (3291)

  • @VArailfan89 im not trying to be offensive. im guilty of having conversations in some of my videos too

  • Come on, stop being a control freak. They're my videos, I can talk as much as I want.

  • Well, since I'm from Virginia, this is rare for me.
