Mark gained national attention when he and his sister, Laura, won the dance competition on "Star Search" with Ed McMahon. Shortly after that he joined Solid Gold when Steve LaChance (Tony's temporary replacement) left SG at the end of season 4 - just in time to say "Good-bye" to the old Solid Gold set at KTLA. In season 5 they moved the filming of Solid Gold to Paramount Studios and got a whole new look. Mark was with Solid Gold for a little over 2 seasons - leaving at the end of season 6 with most of the other dancers and the show got a major re-vamp. Though a "street" dancer, Mark developed quite a loyal following on Sold Gold due to his enthusiasm, energy and charisma (though I am sure his boyish good looks and Southern charm didn't hurt either). • Besides Darcel, the best Solid Gold dancer. Glad I rediscovered him on here.

  • ;-)

  • Mark, Tony, and Cooley were my favorite male dancers on the show.

  • I was pretty bummed when Tony left and it took me awhile to warm up to Mark. But After meeting him - He is one of my top favorites for the male dancers.

  • an incredible dancer......

  • this original is very good

  • There are some latest pics and info of him as a Country singer with his band, by searching through Google.

  • those pits woofffffffff.

  • Well I can only assume that like many of the dancers he was brought in specifically to fill the space between Tony and Mark. Shame really because he was built really well and had the technical ability for the classic choreography requiring lifts.

Steve makes a cameo appearance in the Deborah Jenssen Spotligh #1. And is a perfect example of what I am trying to convey in my statement above.

  • What happen to Steve LaChance, he was really CUTE, like Tony, pity he didn;t stay. I much prefer his dance style, more classical.....

Cooly and Mark's breakdance style was the "in" thing at that time!
