Bobby Darin was so versitile.
Bobby could do standards, pop, rock, blues, R&B, folk, country, Jazz, you name it.
Bobby was exploding with intelligence and talent. He left us so much, considering his short time on earth , 37 years.

Had I been working for Elvis when Bobby Darin died -- I would have told Elvis to pay tribute to his friend with this blues track written by Bobby himself. Wow...what a great, great bluesy song and Elvis would have done Bobby justice too. Darin is just so incredible. Mix Sinatra in with a Presley shake well for a minute and out pours something called Bobby Darin. Drink slowly and enjoy. Mmmmm

Bobby obviously was listenin' to Jimmy Reed, another of my favorites. The respect he showed for blues and soul music was unmatched among other pop artists of his time.

@HickoryRose THat's the secret - he knew he had little time, so he had to work faster & harder!

WOW, what a great performance. The obsession is getting worse--can't stop watching and listening to him--what an entertainer. In my humble opinion, it's him and Judy--that are at the very top of the list!!!!!

Geez - I didn't know he wrote this! I thought it was some St. Louis thing from the 30s. He blows me away.
LOVE Bobby and love this song! THANKS for posting this.

I have been priviledged to talk to a couple of musicians who knew and/or played with Bobby, and they both talked about how much he loved rhythm and blues. They said that when he was just sitting around playing something for himself that more often than not it was an R&B song. I think his love of the blues really comes out here in this clip.

You're right! I forgot to mention that. He always wrote such great lyrics. I love the refrain: "Can't do the pony. Can't do the jerk. Can't watoosi. Too much like work."
