Bulls vs Sonics 1996 - Game 5 - Michael Jordan 26 points

Michael Jordan had some memorable plays in this one, but again, it just wasn't Chicago's night.

The Sonics beat the Bulls in game five, 89-78.

Jordan hit 11 of 22 shots for 26 points. Pippen added 14, while Kucoc and Longley added 11 each.

Ron Harper did not play due to injury.

With the win, the Sonics forced a game six in Chicago on Father's Day.

We all know what happens next.

Exactly. Lest people forget that Shaq was the NBA finals MVP all three times during their championship years. It's true that Kobe carried them to this most recent championship, but still, I think the comparisons are totally unfounded.

@ThadeoftheNorse  WTF are you talking about? Payton didn't start covering MJ until Game 4. Karl's BIGGEST mistake was putting Hawkins on MJ those first few games. Payton held MJ to 6-19 and 5-19 those last three games. And this game...GP was in foul trouble. So try again with that revisionist history. Seattle lost this series because they didn't have enough OFFENSE

a lot of people will wonder why payton didn't d jordan full time in this series. the answer: he couldn't. he'd pick up 6 before half, and that's the truth. jordan was too strong for his little ass.
