It is a little known fact that ordinary digital cameras can see infrared signals. Here I have taken an ordinary remote control and used it as an infrared light source for the camera to see. Without the camera, the light from the LED is invisible, but as you can see here, the light from the infrared LED shows up as a pinkish light to the camera.
