Part two.At the request by Hornby (As asked by one of the Staff, Chris) is this two part video. Here i share with you my 1st attempt at doing a hard wired decoder installation, so it's time for the old soldering iron to come out.

The model is one of Hornby's popular loco's found in many of it's set's. This is one of the earlier versions, as the later one's have slightly different wiring set up.

  • @theguy40267 Thank you. I'm guessing you've now converted yours?? If you haven't keep me posted on how you get on. Kind regards.

  • can i see more of that loco in action plese its way better than they usually are - would love to see it shunting

  • @MrJezza31 It's one model i'd like to see Hornby bring up to date. But this shunter or as the 0-4-0 steam loco (share the same chassis), are very popular starter models. Will do a video when i get a spare moment. Cheers.

  • @MrJezza31 Will see what we can do.

  • "Red and Black to the Track, Orange and Grey to the Motorway" - very good!

  • @scottcl5 Got that from one from Hornby. Easy way of remembering :-)

  • Depending on which loco i believe. The older loco's will need a higher rated decoder fitted (depending on what the motor is fitted). I would say yes to having it fitted. If you contact dcc supplies they should be able to sort out which decoder you'll need,Kind regards.

  • Actually looks surprisingly simple. I had always been put off by DCC because my entire collection isn't fitted for it.

I just had my grandfather on the phone and he wonders if this same thing would work for really old locos? He has a 1968 bought Triang engine which he wants fitted with DCC, but nobody has ever been able to give him an answer wether or not this would be a good idea as he only started collecting again recently and has all DCC fitted other than a small collection from his youth.

  • @ay76 ok
