Compilation of images of actor Rudolph
Valentino incorporating the song THE
SHEIK OF ARABY , a song inspired by
the role of Valentino in the film THE
SHEIK.
The song as played here by Charlie and his
Orchestra, was used by Nazi Germany as an
anti British propaganda song. Listen to the
anti-Churchill lyrics.
The last photo in this collection is of
Hollywood screenwriter June Mathis as a young woman. She made Valentino a star by
choosing him for the role of Julio Desnoyers
in the film FOUR HORSEMEN OF THE APOCALYPSE.
She was a very successful Hollywood screenwriter responsible for such classics
as BEN HUR and many of Rudolph Valentino films. When Valentino died in 1926 she
offered her burial site. She herself died
one year later in 1927. She´s buried next
to Valentino. She was there at the beginning
of his fame, and she was there at the end. There are several photos of Rudolph
Valentino and his friend world boxing champion JACK DEMPSEY. You see them sitting at a table and also in the boxing rink.
Jack Dempsey and Valentino were born the same year. Jack Dempsey was world boxing
champion from 1919-1926. Valentino died on
Áugust 23, 1926. Jack Dempsey lost his title
exactly one month later on Sept. 23, 1926.
There are photos of two important women in
Valentino´s life. Actress Alla Nazimova who
co-starred with Valentino in Camille, and
Valentino´s second wife Natacha Rambova ,
a designer and dancer.
Included a photo of Valentino and Gloria
Swanson in a scene from BEYOND THE ROCKS.

  • Rudolph Valentino must be saying

"Look what they done to my song, Ma"

  • he is so fine

  • Never get tired of seeing pictures of Rudy. He was the epitome of charm, male beauty and from what I have read he was well liked by his co-stars and friends. He doesn't appear to be unappreciative of what he had accomplished in his career and I only wish he could have lived longer to enjoy what he wanted most in his life....a home, loving wife and family....

  • There was WAY more to Rudy then the Shiek.

  • @ILSignorAntonio what a stupid thing to say.

  • anyway how could it be valentino singing...when its clearly a song from world war 2.....listen carefully and valentino died well before the war

  • It looks unbelievable who the first sex symbol of the cinema is borned a few kilometres from my town. But i am not sure he died by natural causes. In my opinion he was killed by a desperate lover or a jelaous husband. It's thank to him if now there's a commonplace about all the italians seen as latin lovers. Bah...but maybe it's better to live 31 years as Valentino than live 100 years as priest ahahaha :)

  • It's not. I don't know who it is, but I've heard recordings of Valentino singing and that's not him.

  • Is that Valentino, who is singing?
