Michael Turner's Waltz played on English concertina.

Higher quality audio here:

I scribbled out the approximate notes, though it's slightly different:

  • Beautiful. Is there a source of written music arrangements available for the 'rest of us' as you have so generously shared with this piece? I'm thinking of O'Carolan. There are basic tunes available such as those in 'theSession' but no chording and my knowledge of theory is nonexistent.

    Thank you

  • @jaisvikt Thanks. I added a link to my page containing quite a lot of written music to the info section above (sorry - can't post links in youtube comments!)

  • Hi, may I ask why you have the boards over the ends- is it for protection or to diminish the volume?- thanks

  • @SuperBeanson I originally tried doing it to reduce the volume, so I could play without disturbing the neighbours so much. However, even though it didn't make much difference to the volume, for a while at least I preferred the sound with the "baffles", so I'd use them anyway. I don't bother these days. They're really easy to attach (using sticky-backed velcro).

  • is it difficult to play a concertina..?

    greetz from holland

  • @damscobig Yes and no. It's easy to pick up, press a button and make a sound that, if you like the sound of the concertina, you'll like. However, the qualities that make it easy to start with can, in some ways, be seen as limitations in the long run. Like learning any musical instrument, you'll only get as much out of it as you put in - there are no short cuts to practice and playing.
