Project M- MANOI AT01 Robot 5 Meter Sprint

At the Kyosho Athlete Humanoid Cup robot competition in Tokyo, one of the main events was a 5 meter sprint. During the sprint exhibitions, the MANOI AT01 robot fine tuned and piloted by Shibata-san turned in some really amazing times. Another really neat thing is the way it is able to stop suddenly at the end without tipping over or losing its balance.

Gyroscopes would be useful. Maybe they use them; i can't one way or another. But it definitely does dwell on one foot, for just a tiny fraction of a second, as it starts and stops.

Yup, and they used the same technique to get started--a slight dwell on one foot, to shift balance. Nice coding! Next, they need to make it truck, R. Crumb style. ;D
