With the utility companies already raping the general public already with price increase that are getting insane, they should take all that money and put the power lines underground like so many cities have already. Then mylars won't be an issue and they can exist like they have for years without people like Jack Scott working so hard to strip the fun and joy out of people celebrating life's events in style!!

An even better idea. Just make it illegal to fill mylar balloons with helium. It seems totally excessive to ban the balloons outright, when the stated problem of them floating into power lines would not exist if they were only air-filled. It also seems dumb to waste helium in balloons which are then going to be weighted down. A bit of lateral thinking needed here.

The proposed Bill would do exactly that, ban helium filled mylar balloons. There are smaller mylar balloons that are filled with air and held up by a plastic stick. These are fine when used with flowers and plants, but not for the larger balloons. The larger mylar balloons would not float with air. They need helium to float. And really, the essence of a balloon is the fact that it floats. Balloons=happiness. We shouldn't kill happinness.
