Like so many of the racing experts from all parts of the country stated, but stated the best and most correct by Paul Moran of espn, "Easy Goer was the better and more remarkable and extraordinary horse, but was defeated by a whisker & desperate neck in two races because Pat Day rode him like the exposed end of a live wire, rode him horribly." So true and correct, and I agree.

I agree, they were both great champions, but like many of the racing experts said from all regions of the U.S.A, and even trainers Wayne Lukas and Woody Stephens also said, but said the most correct by Paul Moran of espn, "Easy Goer was the better,more extraordinary and outstanding horse, but was defeated by a whisker and desperate neck in two races because Pat Day rode him horrible, rode him like the exposed end of a live wire." Like the Bloodhorse top 100 book states in the Easy Goer article, "Easy Goer will ALWAYS be mentioned the same breath with the GREATEST of ALL TIME", despite the awful kid gloves and baby hands rides that got him beat a nostril and desperate neck in two outs. SS was never nor will ever be mentioned in the same breath with the greatest of all time.

Easy Goer was always no doubt a top ten all time thorobred in talent,ability,constitution,sp­eed-stamina combo, with the clear proof of that coming from his many,many top ten all time performances in his life at every distance, but the two typically atrocious rides that got him beat a nose and desperation neck in two races put him down into the thirties where ss always belonged.

Easy Goer showed up in the Preakness, but his typically atrocious jockey didn't and got him beat a nose and admitted his riding was atrocious and "absolutely jockey error." SS didn't show up in the Belmont getting mauled by 8, and Easy Goer ran the worst race of his life in that Derby over that peanut butter mud and the best SS could do was run 2:05

No Hall of Fame champion horse who runs the fastest three yr old mile of al time in 1:32.2,destroying Secretariat's record by 1 full second,a tick off Dr. Fager's world record, runs the second fastest Belmont Stakes of all time,runs most of the best,most prestigious races right on tr. records, and gets beat an inch and desperate neck due to despicable riding can be. Easy Goer was the vastly faster,better horse. Easy Goer ran seven or eight 120+ or higher beyers(double more than any horse since Bid, including Ghostzapper,Skip Away,Cigar,Holy Bull,Alysheba,John Henry), while SS ran ONE!! Easy Goer was the vastly faster horse,and was over deeper,slower eastern tracks. Despicable riding got him defeated an inch and desperate neck in two races.

Mr Crist said the same, just different words, "If not for the 2 typically atrocious rides that got him beat a nose and desperation neck in 2 races, Easy Goer would be mentioned in the same reverential breath as Secretariat,Man O'War,Citation, and his campaign would be acclaimed the greatest in racing history."

Put Cordero,Pincay,Bailey on Easy Goer and EG does not lose by a nose and desperation neck to typically atrocious Pat Day rides. As if Pat Day only rode Easy Goer atrociously bad in 2 races? No way. Typically atrocious rides cost so many top horses and Pat Day mounts eclipse awards,breeders cup races,derby's,awards- Java Gold in 87,Easy Goer,Sky Classic,Turkoman,Forty Niner,Seeking the Gold,Heavenly Prize,Paradise Creek,Banshee Breeze,Surfside and so many more.

Loving all these "kids gloves" excuses for EG LOL. Sorry but a horse doesnt lose 3 out of the 4 major races of the season because he is the better horse LOL. SS was the better horse, he proved it, he forever remain the horse WITHOUT THE EXCUSES!!! Sunday Silence=HORSE OF THE YEAR!!
