  • I love the sound of propeller driven airplanes.

There is a WWII veteran who lives down the street from me who was a pilot of a B-24 in the (I believe) 375th bomb group from '43-44, stationed in Italy. Patton visited their base several times, and this veteran spoke to Patton. He told me that he hated Patton, and except for that one time they talked, he stayed away from Patton whenever Patton came to their base.

  • the Collings Foundation has a small red and white sign that they hang inside the nose turret when they park this aircraft..it says.

    "Jets are for Kids'

my dad and mom would tell me stories of how these "quattromotori' would fly from North Africa and bomb Naples..200-aircraft or more at a time...scary isnt even close to describe it.
