Creative solutions for Mexico City: Deutsche Bank Urban Age Award 2010

Asamblea Comunitaria de Miravalle is the winner of the Deutsche Bank Urban Age Award 2010. The Asamblea, a consortium of 15 organizations in a community on the outer periphery of Mexico City, runs a comprehensive set of cultural, health, environmental, educational, and employment programs giving people a completely different outlook on life. Through the joint efforts of its inhabitants, the low-income and former unsecure neighborhood has become a model for effective solutions for uncontrolled, sprawling megacities.
With the Urban Age Award, Deutsche Bank honors partnerships between citizens, politicians, business people, and non-governmental organizations that contribute to improving the quality of life in cities. People shall be encouraged to mutually accept responsibility for their cities and shape their urban future together.
