My bro's girlfriend brother suggested I try to sing a song that may fit my octave range I am thinking that maybe my range is a lot lower than what I try to sing. I mean my normal talking voice is very deep but its very hard to sound passionate in that range. I think overall I just cannot control my voice. So I either sing high or in a range that doesn't fit me.

Another budy of mine by David Pechacek suggested I try to sing classic rock, he may be on to something. The more soft core music seems to suit my voice. It's just that when passions put through it sounds very outta control and not very pleasant. I tried to scuff my voice before, and it failed, tried to sing a higher octave but failed I think this range suits me. It's just I can't scuff it like Pearl Jam or Nirvana Or Even Sound garden cause they naturally have very dirty voices. I may need to practice controlling this range.

For a long time I wanted to learn how to rap as good as Eminem, and still do. But maybe an electic mix of Eminem, and Pearl Jam, as a hybrid and focus similar to red hot chili peppers?

Tell me what you think of this. Say if it works or not. Let me know as brisk as you can.

It is so important I focus on something cause I jump around just like in life. I think I have adult ADD. That must be how boring life really is!!!

  • Lately I've felt like I've had voice issues similar to yours. I have a pretty wide range, but where I actually sound good (in my opinion) is difficult to utilize masterfully. For me, my voice is the strongest when I'm singing choral pieces, even if the range isn't ideal. My voice is just great for that kind of singing in my opinion. I'm okay with that, because I love choral music, but I do like to sin other stuff too.

  • @WormyLeWorm I never been in chorus, but I can imagine my voice not sounding very good. You know part of me debates even if I was never interested in singing back then I'd probably have better control in my voice. I have a limited range, but lack control in the range I think is right for me. I know if i sing and get paid, id probably make a fool out of myself. But i just listend to Nirvana silver album that has many live home recordings. His voice really isn't that great but made money

  • @WormyLeWorm Maybe there is hope for me after all, i just think that when i look back on life i just want to say trav you tried your dream, whether you made it or not you tried, and u tried hard. I dont think id be disspaointed but i feel dissapointed cause maybe i can try harder, not sure why i feel that way.

  • Haha, this is awesome. Do you know the Crash Test Dummies? xD

  • @ManHoPark I say you continue experimenting more, I bet you saw that coming from me. Haha. Do more covers and see how it turns out.

Overlays is an option, I suggested it because I do it a lot when I record singing. :P

  • @WormyLeWorm It does man,l mean truth be told, it doesn't always take a voice to play and perform. It takes following through, and working hard for it. I find numerous comments on how "untalented" limp bizkit is" that he has realy poor content, but I look at his videos and he has a numerous following of views. There is always a brighter side to things.

I'm definitely very critical of myself as well but life is full of experiences like when you listened to Nirvana; If you have that kind of attitude you often realize that you give yourself a lot less credit and it makes you feel awesome.

You really don't have to be that great of a singer to make a living off of it. (The great thing about choir, too, is that, in my experience, if you put the effort into singing properly you sound amazing as a group even if your individual singing isn't that good.) There's definitely hope for you as long as you enjoy what you do and have the right attitude.

  • @ManHoPark And i think he simple has very scruffled voice, so he can pull it off. I haven't quite decided when I sing, if i need to what my focus hsould be, debating grunge rock, or heavy metal such as Serj tankians sky is over cd which featured a piano. I thought mixing kid rock with pearl jam may be interesting to focus on.

  • @ComposerSyterious thats good to know! I must of added 2 ozone layers with a vocal compression on this with a limiter to take off the excess scuff on top. This was more of a test. I rarely sing at this level actiually but part of me think this lower octave suits me better wish i could put as much energy in it as mcuh as possible. One of the interesting with with pearl jam is that i dont think eddie layers his voice or doubles it that often. I listend to his review mirror greatest hits .
