March 19, 2008: Aitzaz Ahsan had offered to explain the legal position of restoration of judiciary live on television in front of a government representative.

Of course, the government representative could be none other than Malik Qayum, the Attorney General.

He avoided till the last moment to face Aitzaz Ahsan. He arrived late, sent a deputy in his place, and when he did arrive, feigned illness. In the last part you will also see his lame excuses on his illness.

  • Well, cathy0007, by saying that you imply that the legal is the immoral.

  • Aitzaz is right. The parliament is the supreme authority. No court can amend the Constitution according to it.Hence Gen. Musharraf or the Supreme Court did not have any authority to amend or validate any extra- constitutional measures. The PCO of Nov. 3 was not similar to PCOs of 1977 and 1999. Therefore an unlawful and unconstitutional order can be withdrawn on the advice of the Prime Minister or it can be cancelled as unconstitutional.

  • Aitazaz views are more on moral side and Qayum's views are more legal. Take your pick.
