Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are every mans birthright. But adhering to Fundamental Rights, and complying with the corresponding Duties, is every citizens constitutional responsibility. Allan Fernandes, a Bachelor of Arts student at the St. Andrews College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Mumbai, India, outlines his vision for an ideal Democratic Nation, based on the principles of well-informed participation, cooperation, and compromise, with special emphasis on the Role of Youth in building a better future.

  • Awesome video give it a 5/5 great job!!!

  • Thank you, Joshua.

I hope the message, as conveyed by means of my Democracy video, has helped make a positive difference! :)

  • Long life Ghandi! I don't have much to say except that I vote and I hope tha the rich ones that are still spoiled rotten don't buy my vote od democracy. I t doesn't stop me from voting though. I live in Canada and our homeless are still homeless. The fight is still strong for evolution-the human race is the slowest animal to do this though even though we like to think we are smart because we stupid humans! Religion get's in the way of progress! Dam it! STUPID HUMANS!

  • Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was one of the greatest persona to walk on the face of this Earth. Right now (as I respond to your comment), his only rarest memorabilia are being sold for a couple of thousand dollars. My Professor at College remarked that - who could have ever thought that the belongings of such a great man would be put for auction.

It's not just religion that comes in the way of progress, but caste and at times, gender too (in the Indian context).

  • Therefore, I rightly find the need for awareness of Gandhian priciples. But then again it's only the Government that can implement measures on a mass scale, in order to bring about substantial change, for good.

  • Democracy is only as strong as the ability for a country to accept it's responsibility to keep it going.

  • HI, thank you so much for using one of my photographs and crediting me!

  • Thankyou for the friend invite. I really enjoyed this video. It's a rational perspective of what democracy is. I especially enjoyed mention of Ghandi and Martin Luther King Jr. Sure the U.S. Democracy has some flaws, and through vote and public opinion we can change them for better. Such as the percentage of people who were against going to war, it would not influence the President's decision to go to war.

  • Thank you, Sir.

I appreciate your willingness to share your opinion, and respond to mine.

I will agree that democratic governments depend heavily on the philosophies held by the public.

But I will disagree that the ultimate motive of democracy is to protect citizens.

You are a very intelligent debater. I mean that as a salute and not flattery. Have a nice day.
