Spring, 2008 -- A series of strong storms brought heavy rains and flooding across the Midwest. Many communities were threatened when the rivers swelled and the levees were topped. The President ordered federal aid to help state and local emergency managers respond to potential floods. Rural communities in Arkansas relied on state and federal partners to deliver drinking water and other immediate needs. This video features a glimpse into disaster response activities in the Arkansas Division of Emergency Management (ADEM) in Little Rock, Arkansas, and interviews with Charmaine Mitzlaff, Director of Emergency Management for Searcy County, Aaron Adams, ADEM Event Manager, and Pam Kottke, Searcy County Resident.
