Originally there was a plot (How lonely MJ was as a child, he was a dreamer, people loved/needed him, he had/loved children, people crucified him, people were sad and still loved him, crucified for the rest of his life-yet he took it in stride. And, lastly, how he....died, brutally) Watch carefully and you'll notice that some of the clips match the lyrics of the songs.
