I'm a fisherman and I do 3 days trip longlinig 70 miles offhore on my 33' boat.
I use autopilot when I come back but nor me nor my mate drink or use drugs onboard, so we never fall asleep when travelling!
My mate knows that if he's tired he only has to wake me up and I take the helm..

that was sad to watch.. staying awake on the steam in is one of the hardest parts of fishing imo, you just gotta keep moving around no matter how beat you are. auto pilot is a double edged blade. personally I never use it when tired.

oo yeh I remember seeing that about the girl got washed off shore by like 3 miles the day it was really windy!

I was reading about this in the journal, also saw it briefly on the news.
Thanks for posting as this was in depth, its terrible that the bay has taken yet another hit, I doubt it will ever be cleaned up and pollution free.

Thank You. Nature told it all ,birds took off soon as diesel hit, horseshoe crabs weren't so lucky. Seasoned fisherman are very concerned for the future of their fishing in that area. One said they usually have their traps etc. out there. He said forget it for 2 yrs. Same Coast guard saved a girl swimming to far out the other day, a schooner demolished etc. their always there Thank God !
