"Jungle drums" was at the 12th position in the Belgian Hit-Parade Top 100 in 1961. Clyde Otis was a songwriter and record producer, one of the first black executives at a major record company.
Born in 1924 (Mississippi) and dead in 2008. He was the writer or co-writer of almost 800 songs. His songs have been recorded by artists such as Nat King Cole, Elvis Presley and Johnny Mathis. In 1958 he joined Mercury Records as manager, producing recording for artists like Brook Benton and Dinah Washington. Otis later worked as an independent producer.

Might be called 'jungle drums', but the galloping rhythm, ethereal vocals, and soaring strings conjour up a cowboy western. Nice.
