@alexanderssson I just read something that gave me goosebumps on CNN.com. Four days ago (on Thursday) this exact volcano erupted and killed 3 people (after being that close to lava I can't imagine a more painful and horrible death). Man, that's gonna hurt tourism. Wouldn't be suprised if they stop all tours up Pacaya for awhile.
@alexanderssson Tickets are sold at a lot of various travel agencies in Antigua. I chose Chejos at 3 C. Poniente 24 (the owner has climbed it around 2000 times by now). I can't remember the price but it's under $20. I chose the day tour over the night and I'd recomend that but it's a personal preference. If you like coffee I'd recomend doing a coffee plantation tour too.
@alexanderssson 100% YES! It's one of those things that will stay with me for the rest of my life. Your jaw just drops because it's so amazing what you are seeing. The heat is unbelievable - it's tough to get within 10ft of the lava. Roasting marshmallows is cool (sold at bottom of Pacaya). Use a long stick. The climb up is really exhausting (I couldn't catch my breath) but it's worth it. Go!
este volca es increible es maravilloso sueño con ir en una ocacion en la noche de excursion y apreciar cuando vaja toda esa lava como si fuesen rios de fuego XD maravilloso Guate
it is not an eruption are lava flows, veeery slow, and relatively safe to watch, it's been like this for the last 2 years at least, it's an oportunity to witness livin earth
