  • Are all of the bassists in this orchestra required to play on 5-stringed instruments?

  • @AbsoluteZ3R0 At least in European symphony orchestras 5-stringed double basses are common.

  • May I ask which movement is this?

  • @stevenj124 It is from the fifth movement: Finale (Pesante - Presto)

  • What would it take to get one of those seats directly behind the percussion?

  • They are sold at a special price (15 €) 3 days before a concert.

  • Schon fast eine Art National Heiligtum die Berliner Philharmonie! Wenn man das hier hört, dann weiss man auch wieso

  • Wow. Absolutely stunning orchestra. I've never heard Bartok quite like this. The flute at 1:23 nearly brought a tear to my eye. Such an incredible piece.

  • wow. what an amazing conductor! sooo articulate!!!

  • Love the camera work at 1:27

  • 1:14 Brahms..

  • amazing!!!

  • Best performance I've ever heard, and I've heard many!

  • Man that quick panning starting at 1:26 is hot. Props to the directors/producers whoever did it

  • I remember playing this movement as a kid. We violas had fun strumming the 4 note pizzicato chords near the beginning.

  • If I didn't know better, I'd say that was John Williams conducting.
