Chichen Itza

Raw video as we wondered around with our tour guide at this wonder of the world ~ Chicnen Itza. With 2012 and the end of the Mayan calendar approaching there will be much discussion and attention focused on the Mayan civilization in the coming years. There is so much more to the Mayan civilization than just the Mayan Calendar. Learning about the Mayans and trying to imagine this wondrous civilization at their pinnacle is beyond our comprehension. We would know more about the Mayans but missionaries destroyed the Mayan written records in a bonfire frenzy. Early explorers are celebrated as discoverers but often they were conquerors and thieves destroying civilizations, people, cultures and lives all the while taking treasures like common criminals.
