On the ropeway 2009 07 20

One other thing Shodoshima is famous for is the Kankakei ropeway. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kankakei_Ropeway
Kankakei is a gorge that is listed as one of the "big three beautiful gorges in Japan" (日本三大渓谷美).
Cursory internet research has revealed neither the identity of the other two nor any official status for this grouping.
As alternative to the 5 minute ropeway ride through the gorge, there is a 20-odd minute drive between the stations, so K, H and K's mum drove up and met me and S at the higher station. The higher station is better served with restaurants and souvenir shops. They have 2 types of olive flavoured ice-cream up there.
