The 40th Anniversary Mustang Cobra Jet (FR500CJ) duplicated history when it won its inaugural event like the original '68 CJ. The success at the NHRA Winternationals can be traced to the spring of 2008. Here is the story behind the creation of the 2008 Cobra Jet.

  • @5191keith and in addition to this is the fact that thunder jet were "rated" at 360 hp.but all acounts i have read put it to about 425 actual hp.all i know for sure is they run grt

  • nhra will factor these cars out of competition. just my opinion, they seem to have done it in the past with other ford cars. kept changing the index anytime a ford would run under...

  • ford wheres the bigblocks? fuck the modulars

  • @5191keith Keith, you are right and wrong. What you know about the engine is correct but there were three 429 engines in 1970 because I have the 429 Thunder Jet engine which produced 360 hp, the CJ engine which you mentioned produced 360 hp and the SCJ engine produced 375 hp.

  • I have a rare Ford Torino, I am the original owner, it's Cobra I don't want to destroy it, hope someone will restore it but I need help. It is a first edition model very rare came with only one side view mirror, yes bought it new in 1970 has 429 engine.

  • I frggen love Ford engineers. they work best when on a short dead line, for example this car, the new 5.0 engine which was suppose to be a project with an extra year to develope it, the headers for the new 5.0 engine were built over night because the initial plan of tri-Y headers didn't work. all projects were rushed, both came out perfect abd all prime examples of what ford can do.

  • I started Drag racing a 65' Ford Falcon in

    1968......this new car is HOT!

  • Cobra Jet kicks ass!
