    Right before they enter the pupa fase of their cycle they turn yellowish... or they could be a species of wild silkworm (but I think not, the worms with the leaves were white).

  • Why would be depressing knowing that the worms died? If you are so against killing things make a wish to God make you green, so you can be like a plant. They are the only thing in this world that don't kill others living beings, and even so they thrive of the deaths of other beings that makes the earth fertile... be realistic, life only comes from life!
